New Krispy Kreme UK Crazy About Caramel Range (Food Review)

Today I’m bringing you a review of the new ‘Crazy about Caramel’ range by Krispy Kreme. Two new doughnuts have been released as part of the collection and they are now available in Krispy Kreme stores and cabinets.

The first doughnut is the Caramel Glazed. This one is very similar to their famous original glazed but with a bit of a twist. Their light and fluffy signature ring doughnut is coated in a caramel flavoured glaze and topped with caramel drizzle. I love original glazed Krispy Kremes so this one was a definite hit for me. It tastes very much like their original doughnut but with a subtle caramel flavour coming through in the special new glaze. The drizzle gives a bit more of a powerful caramel taste but is not too overpoweringly sweet as there is only a small amount of it. If you like original glazed KKs, I’m sure you will enjoy this one. I would highly recommend it – tasty business.

The second new doughnut is the Caramel Swirl. If you are a caramel addict, this will be perfect for you. As you can see, it’s much more decadent than the Caramel Glazed! It is filled with caramel and topped with caramel frosting, a caramel cube and caramel drizzle. Caramel overload! As you would imagine, this one is very sweet. It is not as easy to eat as the glazed and is a lot heavier, so I would recommend being very hungry before tackling it! That being said, I did really enjoy the Caramel Swirl as well. The filling was delicious and had a kind of Dulce de Leche kind of vibe going on. (To me it tasted slightly salted, but there is no mention of this on the website so I’m thinking I’m probably wrong on that!) The frosting was nice and creamy and the ‘caramel cube’ (fudge?) is an extra little treat. Take care when eating this one as it can get a little messy and sticky! I’d recommend this one as well but only if you have a sweet tooth.

Krispy Kreme have also released caramel dip pots for their doughnut bites as part of the range. I really like the look of these and it’s something a bit different. I haven’t been able to spot these yet so can’t give a review. I’m wondering if these are maybe only available at KK stores as there has been no sign in the cabinet at my local Tesco. I will have a look the next time I’m visiting somewhere with a Krispy Kreme store and will update if I manage to track them down.

Overall, I would thoroughly recommend the new Krispy Kreme caramel range and encourage you to give them a try.
